I bought a used high compression head that has minor pitting in one of the domes. Seems minor to me anyway and I was going to use it ....... any reason not to? Does any one know what manufacturer this might be from looking at it? There is only 800cc and T-43.0 marked on it. Thanks!

Should be fine, just listen for any pinging. Those little pits may be points for uneven heating and burning to occur, especially if you are getting that compression way up to max.

Thanks for the responses. I thought maybe I should pass it through my glass bead cabinet to take any remaining rough edges. This is the only one, the other is perfect. Still like to figure out the brand.

I glass beaded it and it looks good. I will put it on after testing the new flame arrestors/jetting. One thing at a time to best understand changes / issues.

Do I need to re-jet again?

Do I need to change jetting after installing a higher compression head? I know I need to be sure to use 93 octane and I was told to run BR9ES in place of my BR8ES plugs. It runs so well right now, I don't want to ruin anything. Thanks for the help.

good luck with those b9's lol ...

I wouldn't change the plugs or the carb settings. Just make sure you have the right octane for whatever domes you are running. Higher compression will just give you some more bottom end in my opinion. But what do I know. You said it is running perfect so why mess with it....just wondering.

Like you said - gives you a little more.......I'm always up for improvements, just don't want to make things worse. I'm going on vacation to NH the end of this month. I'm going to leave the swap until after vaca at least. Then I will have time to mess with it.

I went to install the head last week and when I pulled the stocker off..... :ack:...... the mag cylinder ate a wrist pin bearing cage for lunch - ouch! Well, 1 week later I've got the motor rebuilt - luckily I had a decent crank on hand as it took out the small end of the rod too. I put the motor back together with the high comp head and rode it today for the first time. I've got 1 hour on it so far and it seems to run real nice. Plenty of power and I haven't even got past 1/2 throttle. More to follow after the break-in period.
