Just had back surgery, looking at a new 2011 GTX iS 215 with Intelligent Suspension.
How is this ski and suspension. Pluses an negatives. $12,849 and how's the this price.

I have had a GTX Limited iS 260 since last August (53 hours) and take it off-shore regularly here in AUS in up to 4 meter swells and very sloppy afternoon north easterly chop. I just love the iS and never feel any back pain or fatigue - sometimes just my triceps from trying to hang on with the power in the slop. I am 58 and not what you would call a 'perfect physical specimen' but the iS makes it a pleasure to ride regardless of the conditions -it also means that I can take it out on consequetive days because I am not stiff from previous day's rides. The only disadvantage with iS is the more expensive service costs if they have to lift the top deck to get to something as you cannot see much of the motor when you have iS. Price-wise a GTX Limited iS 260 costs around $A23K with trailer (and our $ is worth $1.06 of yours). The other disadvantage is fuel - I can go through $A100 of 98 premium in an afternoon ($A1.54/liter) - these supercharged skis love fuel - you have the option of 'Touring Mode' but once you drive one in 'Sports Mode' you would not drive it in any other mode (never used that Learning key and this is my first ski!). If you are only going to ride on glassed-out lakes in the mornings with no chop you might want to re-think the extra cost of iS but it does give you more options over the conditons.
