Thinking these are just a bad idea all around.
I've smoked an iPod and iPhone in less than a month.
Think I'll stick with CDs from now on.

I use my nano and never have a problem. Originally I used my ipod classic 80gb and messed it up from all the bouncing. The nano works awesome though. It really is just a big flash drive. How did you mess it up? I have mine mounted under the cooler with amp. It never even comes out or gets moved. You must have some other issue that is causing the problem.

Both got water damage somehow. Here in Florida we get our afternoon downpours with lightening so that's when we haul ass off the lake. I think it's from the rain coming in between the joint at the hull and cockpit cowl because I always find water sitting under the cooler and other removable box

Well that would really suck. I know the storage bins are suppose to be water tight, but my driver side gets water in it sometimes when my friend is splashing the boat a lot with his ski. I keep my phone and wallet in the purple thing and they always do fine.

Thats odd you are getting water under the pull out thing and the cooler.
my cooler has a lot of condensation coming off it and i have gotten lucky its not enough to hurt anything.

I think I would try to rig something up for the ipod. Maybe take a litle rubbermaid type plastic container, cut a hole in it for the cable to pass through. Put the ipod in it and put the lid on, then seal the hole for the cable with silicone. Might look kinda odd, but its where nobody would see it.

Thos are some sweet pelican cases. At the firehouse I work at, we use pelican cases for a few things. I carry a digital camera in one when I am working. They are the best. I never even thought to see if they had a case. The only problem I see here, is they use the headphone jack as the output. I need to use the actual Ipod plug. I will have to look and see if there is something comparable somewhere just for reassurance.

Does that radio have a sealed compartment the ipod seals in? If so, that is pretty sweet.

Yah it is really sweet. It will take just about any Ipod including the I-phones and I-touches. I have a 120 GB classic. The face flips down and its an opening on the inside. You put the I-pod in a nice neoprene case for cushioning then it connects to the player via a cable on the inside. the whole thing goes inside and you close the faceplate. It is totally sealed in the compartment of the player. I even took my garden hose and sprayed it to test it before I put my ipod in it and it was dry as a bone inside. I was totally impressed with it when I got it and still am. One cool thing about it is that all the electronics are in a separate unit that is sealed that you mount elsewhere. My only complaint is the screen can be a bit hard to see at times but there is adjustments I think and I haven't messed with it yet.
