Purchased my first ski and looking into different aftermarket parts and such. have had just about every other toy, 4 wheeler, sport bike, etc. and know everything, but coming to a ski I'm a little clueless.

Curious of the pro's and cons of an intake grate. From what I'm getting, it improves responsiveness in chop? Is that correct? Does it give you alot more response coming out of donut turns and such? Or is this more for you ocean riders?

Also was looking at wedges. I understand the concept, but seems this would only apply to a ski without any type of trim? Because the angle change will change with trim? Any explanation...

Ride plates... whats going on here?

And, lol, lastly, sponsons? I can't imagine anything drastic here over the stock sponsons unless these things are the size of wings? I'm thinking these are more racing applicable...

Any pump/jet mods that are fairly inexpensive? I'd like to get some more low end response.

FYI I am not interested in any motor mods surprisingly. I have enough maintenance between the two 454's in the boat. So we'll leave this guy reliable. Thansk guys, a nice descriptive break down would be great. I'm surprised after days of googling, I havn't found very informative stuff other then Manufacturers descriptions which usually are a little blown up

yeah the intake grate will just generally help your pump take in alot more water, and scoop more water while turning, or when its choppy out etc. I'm not to sure about the rest of the other mods either I've been checking this post frequently waiting for feedback I'm new too. Noone seems to respond much

Agreed. I just bought a brand new RXT IS 255 and found out there isnt much info on Ski's and whats the best. I came from the dirtbike world where there were plenty of magazine reviews and user reviews of parts, it seems there is much less of that in the ski world. Smaller market I guess.

I too am awaiting a good reply to this thread. I want a bit more bottom and top end, but mostly I'd like a lil better control in the curves. I rode some rental models that seemed like they hooked up better than my top of the line ski, though they werent as fast. Mine seems to slip hard and then all of a sudden catch and shoot in the other direction, which has a tendancy to send you flying.

It also has already had to go back to the freakin dealer b/c a check engine light came on and it refused to start for awhile, stranding me in the middle of lake Conroe. I was told by the dealer that BRP was having software issues on these new high tech models, and they were able to rig it to where I can still ride, but I have a check engine light on now and theres nothing they can do until BRP works out the bugs. Apparntley it was throwing some IS (intelligent suspension) malfunction codes which caused the ski to go a little crazy on the electrical side.

Needless to say im a little dissapointed for spending 15,000 bucks and having to take a ski in after only 3 or 4 hours of use. Oh yeah, and the engine manganment system apparntly has it running so rich, it had fouled the plugs already as well.
