INFO GAUGE PROBLEMO

Due to the insane prices of certain INFO Gauge models I'm using an anternate model gauge that I had in my parts pile. I'm putting what seems to be a XP DI gauge on the 2001 GTX RFI. What pain. I got it werkin but there is something very strange. The gauge doesn't have a purple/yellow wire for me to connect the Boat Speed. That is a strange name to call the wire. The stand alone Speedometer is werkin but I'm not reading anything on the INFO gauge, duh. :D The only wire I have left over to connect to that I cannot identify is a Green/White wire... no purple/yellow like th drawing says. I can't verify the "where used" on the part number but my research says it comes off the 2003 XP DI (278001883). On the plug coming from the MPEM there is a purple yellow wire "position 23 on the number one plug" but I can't find a corresponding wire on the info gauge. I'm about to plug the purple/yellow into the Green/White. LOL Something funny going on here. I've checked a number of INFO GAUGE wiring diagrams and all call for a Purple/Yellow into the INFO gauge but the wire isn't there. I wonder if someone did some work on this gauge and replaced a wire internally? Strange stuff. I should probably leave it alone as the other stuff is working on the INFO gauge. I don't know if I have that kinda willpower. LOL

Hopefully there are equally cheap adventurous mechanics that can guide me on this... otherwise.... "I shall blaze a path into battle for others to follow, surrender is not in our creed." :D :D

OK... got R did !! and I'll share some info. The correct gauge for the 2001 GTX RFI is 278001541. People are WAY TOO proud of those gauges and I"m not paying that kinda money for them. I purchased a gauge for a 1999 GTX Limited 278001370 for just under $200 but it was very pretty. I plugged that one in and it didn't work on the ski so I opted to use a gauge I had from a 2003 XP DI (278001883). I mainly wanted the fuel and oil anything else was a bonus. I spent a lot of time soldering wires, reading the electrical diagram, comparing and such. After a "shot in the dark" that green/white wire, who knows where it came from ended up being my speed sensor wire so I permanently connected the purple/yellow to it and VIOLA. looks like every dang thing works... hopefully it will stay that way. :) I do have a speed sensor issue but I'll swap that out soon enough.

If you can find a cheaper gauge.... the wires are pretty much the same colors and you can swap the plugs on them if needed. Print out a wiring diagram on each and go to work. Nice job on a rainy day. The XP DI gauge I used has a "Trim" display which my current application doesn't have. No big deal for me. :D2001 GTX Green Painted Hood (10).JPEG

I'm gonna check but I'm thinking the GTX Limited INFO gauge requires that Extra Hot Wire in order to power up. I have a spare one of those that I'll test.
