I Stopped at a local chain store this weeknd to pick a case of Rotella oil for my truck. I peeked at their PWC oil, on my way through the store. They stock amsoil, & mystik oils. I know its been discussed here that the mystic oil is a privatly labled citgo product, & I know thats not a secret, but look at the price of this stuff....

API-TC rated synthetic blend, case price comes to $15.99 per gallon. Holy cow, that seems cheap. I have XPS full synthetic for the 787, but how can citgo even make an oil that is rated the same as the XPS2 blend, at less than half the price? what compromises have they made if it meets spec? I know this stuff has been around for awhile, I just had no clue it was so inexpensive.

Mystic is fine in our Rotax engines. I'm not sure how they get it so cheap... but no one has come back, and said they lost an engine on it.

But remember... you need full synth (mystic makes it too) for an 800 or 951 engine. The blend is only good for the 720 and smaller.

While their full synthetic is only $20, I think I would still be a little nervous running it in my 787. When I bought my current project with a 717 in it, I was mortified to learn the PO was running quicksilver TC-W3 in it for the past few years. I didn't rebuild the engine, but I did pull it apart to make sure everything was good. (& correct some leaks) I didn't find any excessive wear on anything. I was worried the RV, or RV gears would be damaged, but all looked good. Dodged a bullet there....
