Impeller tightness??

How tight should a new impeller/ wear ring feel? I put it all back together but it does not spin real easy, you need to use a little bit of force... is this normal or should there be play?

Sounds like you may have pinched the thrust washer, it should spin freely. I would take it apart and check, if you have scored the washer you will need to replace it.

Sounds like you pinched the washer.

Make sure the impeller isn't rubbing on the wear ring. Likey not. Take it apart, and make sure that washer stays centered on the shaft.

It often slips when you put it back together and makes it hard to turn. Also, make sure you didn't gouge it when you torqued it down.

It should spin pretty freely when you are done.

SBT Impellere replacement

My impeller is a little gouged up and I wondered if anyone has tried the SBT replacement for a reconditioned prop? It is aroung 45-50 dollars by the time you send yours to them as a core replacement.

It's more likely the thrust bearing. The thrust washer should be OK.
