Impeller Shaft Lubrication

Hey guys,

I've been studying the shop manual for my 240 EFI. The shop manual recommends removing the impeller shaft and lubricating it with Mercury Precision 2-4-C w/Teflon every 100 hours.

My question is, has anyone here attempted this? The manual that I have does not give me enough information on how to go about doing that.

Well... I think for the most part, that's for corrosion protection. Both ends of the shaft are in oil. So... if you are in fresh water, and keep it clean... it's probably not that critical.

But, some of the other Merc guys may have a better opinion.

i just removed my impeller after 8 years, and no lubrication inbetween. No seziures.
Boat even seen salt water use.
