Impeller Issue? Weird!

Hope everyone can help me out. I have a 97 GTX and after using
in the morning, went to a different lake and I could get the GTX up
to about 4500 rpm and then, under gas, it would rapidly jump to about 6000
to 7000 rpm but with NO seadoo acceleration. I could putt along at 3000 or so RPM but the moment I floored it, it had no acceleration - just the motor rpm's.
It's like the seadoo goes into neutral. Guessing - it feels like (and believe me I do not know what I am talking about) the impeller is spinning and then when the RPM gets too high, whatever holds the impeller (nut?) isn't tight enough and the impeller won't spin the correct rpms. I haven't had the chance (got home with it in the dark last night) to even start looking.

Anyone have any idea?

well

the assembly would not slip in the way you mention, however if you sucked up a rock or sea-weed, giving it more gas will only make things worse, get in the pump and take a look.

also, how do i NOT subscribe to every thread i respond to? it's just annoying...

Thanks! As a Q - why would the seadoo handle the low speed then? Wouldn't
it have problems for all speed? Just curious.

On the subscribe question I would think you've checked something in your
"profile" for this.
