I have a couple of questions regarding impellers, impeller shafts and wear rings...
I couple of months ago I bought a pair of used Seadoos - 1998 GTX Ltd and 1998 GSX Ltd. I took them to a dealer and had them checked out. One of the things they suggested was to have the wear rings and impellers replaced. I have no idea if the wear rings have ever been replaced but GTX seems to have a nasty cavitation issue. The wear rings are essentially plastic and from what I've read here, fairly easily damaged. The question is, at what point do I need to replace the impeller?
Something else I noticed, the impeller shafts make a fair amount of noise out of the water. I've read the threads here about how the shafts will move axially (front to back) and make noise and the this is considered normal. What I've noticed is that the shaft move laterally. If I grab the shaft from under the ski and shake it from side to side, it moves and makes noise. Is this normal?
