idle rpm

OK folks, just bought a used 2006 islandia and actually have 2 questions, but will settle on answering either one of them...

1. my idle rpm (which I should point out, when in labeled neutral on the lever is actually slightly forward thrust; actual dead nuetral I found to be just a little south of the "Neutral" label) is hovering around 2k...this seems a little high (I was expecting something on the order of less than 1k (fyi, makes a BIG difference when docking in a slip)...what should idle rpm be?

2. my auto bilge pump doesn't seem to be auto'ing...manual works fine...I'm home now, but tomorrow I'll check for any sort of in-line fuse to the battery, but thought I'd post to see if others have had this problem and what they found that I might be able to check this weekend...

Any help would be MUCH appreciated...

On a 4 tec engine you can't change the idle speed it is what it is ...2,000rpm's is about normal. Check the fuse in the bilge. You need to add your year and model seadoo to you avatar.

WOW, thanks for the quick reply...actually couldn't find the manual-prescribed 7.5A fuse connection in the engine compartment (it appeared the brown wire traveled through a protected wire harness that didn't, at least obviously visible, show an in-line fuse)...I did find a couple 30A in-line fuses and one was bad...replaced them both...but, traced my "brown" bilge wires to a fresh-water pump; also connected was what looked to be connected to the typical red battery in-line fuse wiring (that was one of the 30A fuses that I replaced)...other than that, I really can't find that 7.5A fuse...there is alot (what I consider alot) of water coming into the engine compartment...tomorrow, I plan on sealing each of the through-ports that could be culprits in water breach...but still really confused on why I can't get the auto bilge to kick on (unless the pump itself is bad)...I think I need to find that 7.5A fuse...

FYI for anyone else in this situation...I have a 2006 Islandia SE...if you have a Johnson 550 GPH Ultima Switch bilge pump combo, then what I found was the following...the BR wire from the switch and the BR wire from the pump are butt-spliced inside the corrugated conduit just north of the exhaust silencer...this takes the 4 wires (BR + BR/WH from switch and the BR + BK from the pump) down to 3 (BR, BR/WH, BK) into a watertight connector...from this connector, the BR/WH turns into BR/RD...follow this back to the electrical distribution block (starboard side by the air filters) and you'll find an in-line, 3 amp stub fuse...I did a continuity check and everything looks good...I believe I just have a bad bilge switch (which I have a new one of)...this weekend, I'll just splice the BR's and the BR/WH and see if this does indeed prove my hypothesis...I thought I'd reply to my own message to help anyone else who is trying to find that dreadful 7.5 amp fuse that doesn't exist...I hope this helps out...
