I have a 2006 Challenger 180CS. It has the ICS to clean out a clogged grate. It's a neat idea, but I is has caused more problems than it has solved. I assume this is why they discontinued it that year...
When I push the ICS button the grate drops and returns to it's closed position, but very often I find that it goes up too far. So instead if being flush with the bottom of the boat, it sticks up and allows stuff go into the pump.
One day I was on the river and I had to end the day early b/c of cavitation. I tried going under the boat for a look/feel but it was too murky. When I got home I looked under the boat and found a large wedge-shaped chunk of wood jammed into the gap the grate makes when it goes up too high. It was trapping the wood there.
Does anyone know if there is a way to secure the grate so that it stays flush with the bottom of the boat?
