I have a 2009 GTX 255 Limited-is. I was told by the dealer the IBR motor is bad and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1550.00 plus tax. Does this cost sound correct? Are there re-manufactured IBR's on the market that are cheaper than new? This seems like a lot of money. Any way around this huge cost???

The service manual action for the ibr overheat code is 1. Check IBR cooling circuit, 2. Replace IBR unit. So I would make sure if you do it yourself that you figure out why the ibr overheated, was it a cooling issue or was it a unit failure.

Also I have 2011 Wake Pro that went into limp mode this summer with a ibr warning, and I pulled the key and restarted and it went away. It did not come back for the rest of the summer. I have recently purchased a Candoo Pro and checked stored codes with it and the ibr overheat code was stored. So mine was obviously was a false or temporary code. You might ask your dealer if he did any troubleshooting of the actuator and if he actually knows if the actuator is bad or he is doing what coastie suggested and just swapping parts. Did you try using the ibr override function to see if you can move the gate manually with the trim button?
