hi there! i need some advice! i have just replaced my 06 215 challenger SC with the 08 kit! well when i put it back in the water i for the first time it ran great!.... well until i got on it! lol... i seemed to have left a clamp loose on the intercooler after i winterized it! ooops!, well i havent change the plugs or the oil yet, i wanted to run it for a day and get it warmed up and then change all of it! well when i got on it i blew the line off the back of the cooler and it fell under the motor! so i got a over heat light and the boat went into limp mode! YIKES!!!! i want far from the dock so i opend the engine comp and poured water on the exhast! i shut it down for a few min and started it back up and got it to go maybe a hundred feet until the alarm went back off, so i shut it down and did the same thing! after pouring a bunch of water on it i got it back and out of the water! after a little inspection i noticed ALOT of water in the hull! one thing let to another an i found the line and fixed it! it was scarry to see that hapen! but after i fixed it i put it back in the water. i ran the boat for about 2 or 3 hours with out a problem! i have even noticed a better top speed at 7000 with the new SC kit! so what do you guys think i should do now that i have overheated the motor???? thanx for your help!

MIKE......

Not much you can really do about it now. It doesn't sound like you overheated it too bad, but be sure to change the oil and keep an eye on it. I think you'll be OK, but time is the only real way to tell.

You didn't overheat your engine....you overheated your exhaust system. Your intercooler uses the same outside water as your exhaust does. Make sure you didn't melt any exhaust hoses. You'll probably be fine. Make sure you rinse off your engine and other componets if you were in salt water.

cool

sounds great! i wasnt too sure about that! with the motor on the sealed coolant loop, and the exhaust on the sea water! i kept it as cool as possible and only ran it for 45 to 50 sec at a time or so.... but like i said i ran it for a few hours after i fixed it and it ran great! so ill change the oil and plugs now and take it out again this weekend! so we will see how it gos! thanks for your help!

I think your fine. Feel fortunate BRP put in a "fail-safe" and alerts you and puts the boat in limp-mode. If not for that feature you could have cooked your boat.
