Well we decided to drag race them yesterday, and we are both about the same size and weight, and bopth ski's had full tanks....and my ski is def a little faster out of the hole and top end is prob about 3 or 4 mph faster then his GTX limited....Shouldnt his ski stomp on mine with no problem? We both have new wear rings, so it was not a cavitation thing. Just seemed like I had a little more power.

I was told..and Im not sure how true it is, but the 800 rotory motor produces more power then the 951 reed valve motor.

he should've won. We, (me and a buddy) did same thing, after i serviced them both...gtx, gtxL. The "L" felt as though, it would not stop pulling. I was impressed with it. Did you ask what rpms your buddy was turning? Is this the same ski (your buddy), that has the 122psi compression? If so, i believe then, your guys' outcome would be right. Just serviced a 951XP, with 115psi (he ran the ski prior to bring'n to me, without the main inlet hose attached to the "T", up under the hull, so no water AT ALL, was ciculating thru the motor), and that XP was a toilet. Put it this way, i kept up with him, with my 97gti, about 1-1/2 skis behind him.

Ive run my GSX 782 vs my buddy's GTX 951 (carb) and he beats me in every way. Not by much, but there is no question the 951 has a lot more power.

Yep its the one that has 122psi. He just has been pretty upset with it seance he got it. I just want to help him get it up to pare so it performes like he wants. Should he start with piston and rings, r is there somewhere else we should be looking at. We both rev about 7k. His prop is in good condition. Im kinda stumped with it. I do know one problem for sure...If he runs it for a long time then shuts it off, it will not re-start without changing plugs...My GSX Limited was the same way and I never figured that one out either.

Sounds like his carbs are way off. Have you done the WOT run and killed it, then pull the plugs to see if its running rich? Do you have any pics of the pugs after you swap them out?
