I have a 96 xp, it seems my crankcase is full of oil from the resevoir I guess. I noticed it as low and the motor wouldn't turn over unless I took plugs out. I turned it over with the plugs out and it blew oil everyhere. Ho do I get the oil out and whats causing the leak?

Leave the plugs out and the wires grounded on the lugs. Place a rag over the plug holes to catch the oil and crank the starter. Get as much oil out as possible. May have to charge the battery again. Clean the plugs and see if it starts.

The oil is probably coming from either bad crank seals or the rotary valve seal. If the ski hasn't been used for a while, it might not be a problem. If it continues as a temporary measure you can pinch off the main oil line when not using the ski. Don't forget to unpinch the line before you start the ski.

The permanent fix is to replace the crank seals, or a new short block.
