My hydro turf just arrived today. I have to say this stuff is very nice. Pulled the remainder of the purple factory stuff off the engine cover. What does everyone use to get the sticky goo off. luckily some one already had removed most off it before I bought the boat. I know what im doing this weekend.

As difficult as it is, I'm not even going to comment on this...

there is a product called I think Goo Gone, but I would spot test it first.

Thats what i was going to say just as Jake did, Goo Gone is a great product. I use it on almost everything!. You can find it just about anywhere too. Like Jake said, definetly do the spot test.

i just insatalled my hydro turf yesterday and my rear cover was a pain in the butt, after i tryed everything including goo gone, what workid the best was first spray on bug and tar remover and wipe as mych off as posiable, then use carb cleaner and baby wipes it is amazing how well it came off, and keep using new wipes as they get pluged up with glue, this cut my time down to 1/2 i would say, only took half hour. oh yah do a circular motion when using the wipes

Nice!, I will have to do that when mine comes.... which will be forever! UFF.. all the way down to PANAMA

Thanks for the suggestions any other input on installing the turf did any one clamp it down the instructions say that the adhesive is pressure sensitive

I just did mine and it has the 3m backing. If it is the same adhesive. I had a second person with me. We lined it up and plced it then applied pressure from the centre out to the outside to set them. Take your time. It works well and the finish look is awesome. I did all the small areas first then the big ones. I roughed up the area first and cleaned it with alcohol first to give me a clean surface. Good luck.

Only 2 things are needed to fix anything. Duct tape and WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape. If it should move and it doesn't, use the WD-40! WD-40 is made from fish oil and will work well on removing adhisive. So many uses that most people don't know about.

I will be ordering my Hydro Turf soon. Not sure if I should go with the purple to match my Speedster purple or gray to not stick out so much. Also got a sample of the purple marble. Any suggestions or pictures to guide me???

I used an old wooden rolling pin to set my hydro turf in place, worked really great to make sure all the surface was smoothed down and all the edges stuck. Turf has been in the boat for three years now, and I haven't had any problems with it.

The purple has been known to fade. If you call them, they will send you samples.

Start by cleaning the whole area good with a cleaner then wipe down with alcohol. Then start with the small pieces to build your confidence and do the big ones last.

The best way to apply it is to lay it all out so you know you have the pieces in the right place. Line up each piece and start with a corner. Peel the backing away just a couple inches and fold the backing over flat to the piece. Line that corner up, and press down. With that corner lined up correctly, the piece wont move and the whole thing wont move. Now just pull the backing slowly while you press down. It will end up perfect every time. Hydroturf is one thing you dont want to start in the middle and work out, the adhesive wont give and if its not lined up perfect, you are stuck with it. To activate the pressure sensitive adhesive, i placed heavy stuff on each piece. You can use just about anything. i used weights. Others have used the rolling pin method. Make sure all the edges are down good. That is where you will have problems if it comes loose.

I got all the old adhesive off the the smooth surface but the textured surface is not so easy. A scrapper doesn't work on the texture

Some 600-1000 grit wet sand. Wanted to scrub stains before I laid it down. My swim platform was a slip platform afterwards.
HT took care of that though :)
