So my hx is bogging at low speeds. Idles fine, and once at speed it's good. Going from an idle and then giving it throttle it bogs down. Pulling the choke out fixes it and it's fine once above 1/4-1/2 throttle. Just have to get it going first. I pulled the carbs thinking they were dirty. They are actually spotless. So now I noticed the hsn with the plastic cap was only about 1/4 turn out? The service manual doesn't state a stock setting that I can find. Any help would be appreciated!

I would think it being "0" it would make it run lean easier? Maybe just confused. Lol

They don't want you to. You can only make it richer or go up/down main.

Looks like you asked in cheap's thread.

Lou is right though. Your problem is the LS.
Have you checked to see if its 1.25 turns out?

Try opening up counterclockwise LS screws on the carbs. about 1/4 turn, if you are needing to use the choke you're LS is too lean, this will richen the mixture slightly.

Haha yeah I was typing lean so much got into a habbit of it. So yes you are correct, I richened it up 1/4 turn on both carbs.

As for the HSN just screw it all the way in and then place the black cap back on the needle and it should be good right?

On a Mikuni SBN carb... the high speed needle is AFTER the main jet. So... on the HX, 720 engine... the carb's are jetted properly, so the high speed needle doesn't need to be open. So, the HSN just adds more fuel than the jet supplies.

This is in contrast to the Low Speed needle. The LSN trims fuel from the pilot jet, so you don't load up at idle, when the vacuum is high.

Now... knowing you have a "Bog" off idle...

1) your transition ports are plugged up.
2) Your high-speed check vlave is leaking
3) Your pop-of is too high.

Last question... did you install a set of aftermarket air filters?

Regardless... do NOT keep running the ski this way. A lean condition will roast a good engine.

Stock air filter. As far as being clogged up, these carbs look clean as can be. I didn't see anything at all that could be causing a problem. The needle tip looked like it might have a groove but doesn't look too bad. Guess I'll have to test the pop off

Alright cool. Do you think me richening up the LSN will help or that will just cover up the problem? I will have to find a pop off pressure tester.
