I always find it difficult to remove the oil filter cap on all of my 4 Tech Engines
08 RXT-X, 07 RXT, & 07 Wake 230 430hp

I know to remove the nut with a 8mm socket, but after that is where I always
find difficulty. I have trouble getting the top of the oil filter casing off. I have tried to wiggle it, lightly pry it, a big pair of channel locks with a rag, you name it. Of course I have been very careful not to nick the machined surfaced but there must be a better way. Please help

Also besides the cap where do the O-Rings belong.

The threaded bolt on the bottom has a small lip right above the threads with a machined lip.

Thanks.............For any help

You will need a E-10 star socket or a 8mm(6pt) socket to remove the oil filter cap. There are 3 "O" rings in the filter cap area if they are damaged change them. I believe one top and bottom of the Bolt and one large one on the top to seal it. To remove the top filter cap I have a special tool that fits under the lip. In a pinch you can very lightly pry up on the lip on different sides and it will pop off.
