How to know when supercharger build is necessary

Hi Folks--lots of threads here about supercharger rebuilds but what I'm looking for are signs and symptoms that a rebuild is necessary. I'm at about 114 hrs (I think--the odo reset somehow after winterization last year). I'd love to run the boat until the end of the season (late-September up here) but don't want to risk damage. If the SC needs a rebuild does it just run slower or can you actually hurt something?

Normally, if the supercharger shows signs of needing to be rebuilt... it's too late, and there could be damage to your engine.

The price of the rebuild out weighs the possibility of eating a $4k engine.
