How many 96GTX's did they make???

Is it just me, or does it seem like we have a huge number of posts on 96 (and a few 97) GTX's coming in over the last week or two? It is great! Lots of green skis still alive and kicking. How many did they make? Must have been a really popular model based on how many active ones we have on the forum. I had 3 at one time, (but sent one to its grave)
 
Reason why there are more of them is because they don't probably get ridden as hard as like an XP would, most of the time they are a pretty family oriented ski, and they are very stable and nearly impossible to flip so you don't see them get flooded like a lot of the smaller skis. Plus they have the very reliable 787 engine. All adds up to a good combination
 
I have to agree, they seem to be the most common seadoo ever. I see them everywhere too.
 
Yeah same here. I read somewhere that the 97 model was the best selling luxury watercraft of that era.
