How do I switch out batteries in seadoo jet boat

Hey,
I have a 1994 seadoo speedster twin engine jet boat. The batteries are old and won't keep charge. What batteries do I need to buy and how do I change them ? I've never changed a batterie out and husband won't be home for longer period (military) so I need some good and safe instructions how to do it myself ....thanks !

your better off, modifying the dual battery tray, cut the inner "lips" off, so you can install, 1 big marine battery.

Actually doing the swap out is easy.

1.Disconnect the negative cable first. Should be a single nut or wing nut to spin off. Make sure if any other wires are on that post, take them off too.

2.Disconnect positive side. Same as negative, remove nut and any other wires. Dont mix up the wires.

3.Remove any brace or bracket around the battery.

4.Take old battery(s) to store of choice and buy new one. I prefer Sears, but you can go anywhere.

5.Put new battery back in. Replace brace. Reinstall positive cable. Reinstall negative.

Done!!!

o.k. that dosen't sound to hard. Do I have to watch out for anything else other than not to mix up the red and black cables ? I don't wanna get shocked or something
Also what kind of battery do I need to buy ?

take the model number down and or make to the store of your choice . they could match/find you the right fit..

shop around if you have the time as i have seen different prices for the batteries that are required

Step 4.

Take it with you and have them match it up. You can usually just get numbers off of it, but I dont wanna confuse you.

Thats all you do. No way to really get shocked.

I agree take the old battery in with you. That way you get the right one. Plus they will want the old battery, or you will have to paid a core charge.
So you will be money ahead, you do not have to worry about the battery disposal and you will get the right size. A win, win, win. Good luck

2-little batteries at 60-100 buks each....OR

1-marine regular size battery for 65 buks at Costco, with more CCA's than the 2-little ones.

I took the old batteries out today and bought two new ones. I filled up the acid and now I just don't know how long I have to put them on the automatic trickle charger before putting them back in the boat.

I have 2 autosport 16 CL-B batteries and my trickle charger is
Napa 85-300A
12 V 1.5 AMP
any suggestions ? Thanks!

Just put it on the charger over night or the tickle charge for a day and you should be in good shape. Happy boating

in the batterie booklet it says if you overcharge the battery after filling it up with the acid it could explode??? I don't know and don't want that to happen. I only have the trickle charger 12 V 1.5 AMP so how long is the charging time with that one...15 hours / 12 hours / 24 hours ?

Usually fresh batteries are good from the get-go. If you added the acid, then a chemical reaction starts to form....creating electricity. Now there really is no need to charge it, but a trickle charger on it for 5 or so hours wont hurt it. When they say batteries explode, is usually when someone is charging a battery at 10 amps and leaves it on for days....
But in my oppinion, install the batteries and go with it.
Make sure you secure the batteries, and connect the right leads to the right side of the battery. If you do it the other way, You will blow a fuse somewhere and have to trouble shoot later on.
