how did you break in your 4stroke

yea i am torn on how to break in my new rxp..my buddy just built a vw vr6 gti turbo and used the hard break in process and these motors are the same as car motors now so i am tempted to use motomans method..How did you break yours in?
 
WOT isnt bad you just shouldnt do WOT for a long time during breakin. You need to very the rpms alot, so dont be cruzin at 40mph for an hr and don be afraid to get it up to top speed.:cheers:
 
wait i missread the article yea its an 08 sorry i was reading the 2 stroke break in article...im just so anxious to get out on the water i have been reading about them none stop but there isnt much info out there about the 4 strokes so i keep getting alot of 2 stroke articles
 
i meant to ask about synth oil i read that your not supposed to use it ever in these engines? is this true

The reason is because of the ceramic washers, Your is a 2008 so it will have the updated metal washers so youll be fine with using the new semi syn XPS oil, Amsoil marine oil is the best oil and they say its ok to use in the Supercharged seadoo's. Also you should still change out the OEM washers with riva washers even the new oem washer can fail the rivas are alot better.

The one thing i stress alot is supercharger maintenance. I always tell people to pull it off every 25hr and inspect it and even check the slip(get a shop manual) There are 4 main parts all of witch can fail and take out a motor.

-clutch washers
-shaft
-bearing
-gear

Charger also needs a FULL rebuild every 100hr (rebuild Kit contains the items i listed)

IMO id change to riva washers and run a full synthetic oil like amsoil as these motors were designed to run full sythetic oil but when they came out with the supercharged version they were forced to use mineral oil in it. Thats why theres so much confusion on witch oil to use.
 
yea i can see using non synth to break in the motor but after that i would prefer to use synth so i will probably swap out those washers at my ten hour service
