Hey guys! My name is Philip and I am looking into getting a PWC sometime this week!! Sold my bike so figured it's time to get a jetski. I am looking at either 2014 GTI 130 or 2014 GTX 155 (local dealer has a good deal on one). I'm doing research as I type but if anyone has any insight (pros/cons) on both of them that would greatly help!! It will be me and wife (sometimes) riding it and every here and there strap on a tube to the back for my daughter to enjoy. Thanks and I hope to be a part of the community soon!

Philip, welcome to the family. You may also want to consider the Spark as it is cheaper and perfect as a recreational ski.

I looked at the Spark but I don't think that will be enough power and room for me. Max they are 90hp, right? And the 90hp version is almost $8000ish

I don't think that you would ever be satisfied with the GTI, it's a big underpowered ski, the GTX would be preferable. BTW the Spark is much smaller and lighter, I can't say for sure, but I would bet the 90HP 2up version would run circles around the GTI and maybe the GTX. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for your feedback Lou! From what I've been reading, Spark might not be a good option for me as I plan on taking my wife and daughter with me as well for the ride a lot of times and spark does not seat 3 people comfortably. Spark would be fun for myself sounds like. I'm just thinking whether the difference between gti and gtx justifies the $1700 difference.

I wouldn't presume to tell you what to do, but since you are living in Florida, I would assume at least some of your riding will be in the ocean, so I would think the larger 4-tec ski would be preferable. I also couldn't tell you if the GTI/GTX difference is worth the extra $1700.00, but the GTI is an entry level ski, it's a good ski, but personally I would never be happy knowing I could have the extra power of the GTX, 25 extra hp can be a big difference especially riding 3 up.

Being an old 2-stroke guy I'm biased toward the spark, it's a modern version of what I ride. That being said, here in KY it's all lake and river riding, so ocean riding is a whole new game. If I lived in Florida I would probably go with the 4-tec, it's just more suited for ocean riding and salt water.

And I am basically going to be in ocean probably 99% of the time so bigger craft would be best. Not tooo many reviews of gti 130 vs gtx 155 out there unfoirtunately (unless I'm looking in wrong places)...

That would be great! However, I don't believe dealers let you do that with jetski (especially brand new ones)...I rode my neighbour's 2013 GTI 130 and I loved it (other than the need for a little extra power at times). Just never had experience with a 25 hp increase on a watercraft (I understand that everything else is just about the same between those two).

You will like the 215 engine. Substantial difference over the base 155. Congrats on the purchase.
