Greetings:

My local SeaDoo dealer was checking into a part for my boat. When we check the HIN# it does not appear to make sense.

They advise the HIN should start with US CEC followed by 5 numbers

Mine starts with CECA then 4 numbers 1 letter and three numbers

They claim the "A" shouldn't be there. Anyone have any idea what is going on or what my HIN indicates?

Is the "A" maybe a Canadian boat (aye) :)

The Hull # has 13 digits. CE CH 12345 L 4 95
The first 2 (CE) mean nothing. The next 2#'s(CH) are the Model. The Next 5 #'s(12345) are the serial #.
The"L" is the month of production. The "4" is the year of production. The last 2#'s(95) are the Model year.

On newer boats they will have 14 digits as the newer ones need an extra serial number.

Also hidden behind the MPEM, is another location of the number...They should match, same as the title.

Thanks Karl.

Does my CA in the "CECA" makes sense then for a Challenger?

I have (with generic numbers, I only have a string of 4 not 5) CECA1234B797
