High Idle after throttle

Recently the Seadoo started doing a few weird tricks on me....

It hasn't been on the water for a while, and i was getting it ready for a few more times before i put it away. Today i noticed on the hose on the back yard, i started having idling issues.

Plugged the key on, held the choke, pressed the start key for a bit, it starts, let go of choke, it idles pretty good....

let it idle for a bit, give it just a lil gas to rev it up, it just starts idling high...never really goes down to idle....i press the off button, takes like a second or two to shut off...

If i restart it, it will start idling ok until i press the throttle again....and the same old story....keeps idling high....

Any ideas???? is this because its out in the trailer still or do i need to look at something?

It will idle higher on the trailer about 3000 rpm as compared to about 1400-1700 rpm in the water. Due to no load on the impeller.
As long as it doesn't run off on you after you press the stop button,,.....if that happens then choke it to shut it down.

How high was it idling at on the trailer?

no rpm gauge on this thing...

just dont know why it starts out slow then when i rev it it stays hi...ill take a video tomorow

Usually it's because it's running too lean.
Not enough gas to cool the chamber and the plug stays hot enough to keep igniting.
So by choking it , you give more gas to flood it.

It would help to have a Tach to see where its actually idling...all i know is that i never seemed to idle this high...or maybe i never payed attention

PM me...I'm at Wayne state right now but will be in SCS by 1pm. where are you located?. I;ll be at 8mile/beconfield area for a little bit
