High Heat alarm

What would cause a high heat alarm to go off - other than the heat being high of course?

Engine temp is same as lake temp.

Antifreeze is at normal levels.

Hoses look fine.

2003 GTX 4TEC

Thoughts?

It might be a bad sender unit...replace the temp sender unit.
