So, I have a trip planned next weekend and got my old friend out of storage last night to give it a look over. I went to hook/connect the batteries back up and noticed that they will still connected (shame on you to the tech who winterized it last fall). They were turned off, but still connected. Everything started just fine. However, the battery alarm sounded....is this just because the batteries may be low and will recharge itself once it is in water and runs for awhile? Or, do I need to worry about them since the outfit that winterized the boat last fall did'nt disconnect the batteries. I did'nt want to run the boat to long being it out of water and so I only let it run about 2-3 minutes. The alarm sounded directly after I started it and I silenced the alarm and it did not sound again, but like I said it was only 2-3 minutes running. It may have sounded again if I had the engine running longer. The batteries are brand new as of last year.
What does everyone think?
Also, towards the end of the season last year when I would fill the gas tank up, it would get full and "spit-up" gas all over the place. I assume there is something lodged/stuck in the gas vent (I'm not sure that is the right term). How and where can I check that to blow that tube out that vents the gas tank? Is it something that I can do myself or do I need to take it somewhere. Someone told me that it is common that maybe a bug or something will get in there and jam it up. Yes, no???
