Hi all, I need some help with removing my jetdrive from my 240efi M2 SeaDoo Islandia.
I was able to remove all (11) bottom engine bolts and (4)jet pump housing bolts. I have not lifted the engine since i dont have a lift to do so. i have the Manuel and I was expecting the pump to just fall out after i took all the bolts off however it seems like its stuck. I try to pry it from the bottom with a 2x4 and its not moving at all. I really tried and dont even see any type of independent moving between the engine and the pump. They seem to be moving at the same time since im prying so hard im flexing the hull. Are there any other bolts holding this pump on? Is it just some type of silicone holding it on right now?

Never tried to get the pump out... let me look over the manual, and I'll give you a second opinion.

Welllllll......

Once the engine is out... then there are 4 nuts that hold the adapter plate to the pump. Then... once those are off, and assuming that the cables are loose under the hull.... then the pump should drop out. But... since your pump had so much corrosion.... and add that to the weight of the engine... and you are probably just bound.

I would get the engine out, and that will allow you to take the adapter off from up top. Then... the pump should just fall out.

Yes.... but you need about an extra 6" on the black tube to make it happen. (The swim deck is long on that boat)

When I get home tonight... I'll get you an exact measurement.

Do you have the steering and shift cable loose? The bolts you removed should be all the bolts. The seal around the pump and hull and gaskets to the motor are probably holding the pump just enough. I would reinstall the four nuts on the shorter studs, or put a jack under the pump so it doesnt fall, and then pull the engine. After you have the engine out the pump will come out. The suds from the pump that the motor bolt to are a very precise fit, so any binding between the studs of the pump and the motor will make it very hard for either to come out.

Well you were right. That stand unmodified doesnt cut it. I bought it to find out the hard way. After that i went to a metal shop to pick up some steel tubing to make it do what i needed. I extended the boom and legs about 2 feet. Here is a pic of it modified:

The bad news is i still cant get the pump off. Any suggestions????

I have the cables loose but not removed from the pump. The pump doesnt move at all. I have all the screws in PB Buster right now. Can you guys recommend anything that can help? Maybe provide some feedback and knowhow to heat up the bolts?

So you have the pump cover and everything removed and it still won't budge? Try and get some wd-40 between the pump and the seal on the hull. Then I'd put and jack and jack it up so it's an inch or so below the pump and ten start tapping on the pump from the top with a mallet and should break free and fall down to the jack.

I assume the pump cover is the plate below the engine (In the engine carpartment) right? If so i donot have that off and that is stuck as well. I have tried hammering the pinion gear of the pump to try to force it apart and doesnt move. I was thinking of getting a large flyweel puller and centering it on that pinion gear but i just dont know.

be careful about hitting the pump. You may break the fiberglass in the hull.

Can you get the top adapter plate off? The studs coming up, are from the lower half. So... spray penetrating oil around them.

I guess if i can get the adapter plate off the pump will come out but not having much luck. I have been spraying it every 2 hours and will give it a try tomorrow. Maybe the other owner used permanent silicone.
Does the adapter plate sit directly on the hull or is there a gasket in between?
I was thinking of using a putty knife and a mallet under the adapter plate between the hull to try to brake any glue/silicone seals?
If that doesnt work can you tell me the proper way to heat up he bolts so i can get them to expand a bit to break the possible salt seal? '

From the Merc book... there is a rubber seal/gasket in the hull... then the lower, and upper sandwich it. But... I don't think there should be any sealant.
