Help with my Sea Doo

Ok, I have two 1992 Sea Doo SPX 650's. Both are identical machines and have less than 100 hours each. They were both runnung fine at the end of last season. When Iwent to start them up (about a month ago) one started right up and the other took awhile. The issue lies with only one machine. It will start and rev on the trailer, but when i'm on the boat ramp, it acts like it's running out of fuel. It revs up quickly. but begins to bog (like its running out of fuel). If I play with the throttle a bit, it will rev again and repeat the same bog process as before. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and do not understand what is going on. Nothing wrapped around the prop shaft, the fuel is good, and it seems to be getting at least enough fuel to run.....on the trailer. If anyone has an idea, I would really appriciate any help. Hopefully someone has some experience with similar problems and can offer an "easy" fix. Thanks in advance.

So I am pretty mechanically inclined, but setting pop off pressures and syncing the carbs can be tricky. Is this something I can do or do you think it would be better to have a shop do it for me?

Yep... it's not a big to do. Once you get them off, and cleaned... we can walk you threw it. BUT... chances are... if the internals aren't rusty, or corroded... just re-use the spring in the carb, and you will be fine.

First of all, thanks for the help so far. I pulled the carbs this AM. The Carb on the front seemed to be in pretty good shape. The problem is going to be in the carb that sits the furthest toward the back. No rust which is good news, but there is some VERY sticky residue inside the carb (not in the throat but internally) It cleans pretty easily with spray carb cleaner, but I think I'm going to let it soak a day or so in a carb cleaning soulution. I also found that the diaphragm was torn. So, I orderd a rebuild kit for both carbs (better do both). Any ideas about the sticky residue.....Varnish is one thing, but I would have thought it would have been in both. Don't know, just a thought. Because I know you are probably going to ask.....no grey fuel lines and I pit Sta-bil in the tanks and ran the machine at the end of the season.

Well, All is good in Seadoo land. Pulled the carbs (What a chore) went to work on them both and found a torn diaphragm and a stuck needle and seat in one carb. The other actually looked really good. I Ordered parts for both (since I already had them apart) cleaned and put them back together. I spent SEVERAL hours putting everything back together, talked to a friend who used to be an outboard mechanic and he helped me time them and set pop off pressures. Got the whole thing back together and started the first try. Ran the machine and had to adjust the low speed side a couple different times. It is running like new and I'm off to the lake for the next 5 days! Dr. Honda, Thank you for the help! Happy boating!
