First post here, I bought my first set of seadoos from a private seller last week and we started them on the trailer and all seemed fine.

Today I took them to the lake for a test run and hoped on the 2005 gtx limited and fired it up, right away there was a grinding sound, I gave it some gas and there was bearly enough power to move it 100 ft or so.

I idled back to the trailer and pulle it out and took a look inside the impeller area and see a wad of white plastic that looks melted around the impeller with chunks shooting out when I started it.

I have attached some pictures, what does this seem to be and how expensive is it to fix?

Thank you. EEFC711E-DE67-400A-A41E-96325C04C2DA.jpeg76F63D0F-1948-43DF-AB9B-50BB5DC88415.jpeg

My first thought is it picked up a Plastic Shopping back, or a heavy duty trash back in the water! It could be from the previous sellers last run, and never cleaned it out. Might be able to pick it out with some long nose pliers.....if it is indeed a plastic bag of some type

Its no bag, its rock hard plastic, almost like pvc pipe..

Yes, try taking a look at it from the front where the water enters in. You could have picked up a rock or something that is shaving off the wear ring.

Either way your wear ring is shot at this point.

Yup, I found the rock... should I replace the propeller since I gotta crack it apart any way?

Yep, that's the composite plastic wear ring, is the impeller badly damaged? Balance is important.

Anyway, mine sorta looks like a hand saw on the leading edges and one trailing edge looks slightly bent but still works pretty well. Maybe one of these days I'll take it off and send it in.
