1999 Sea-DOO not quite sure what motor it has, but last year we couldn't get the thing to keep running, when we finally got it running it was smoking so bad you couldn't see anything and it could only run full throttle. Tried several things but nothing seemed to work, pulled the plugs and they were saturated in OIL this sea-doo has the direct oil injection, any ideas what the problem is? THANKS For ANY INPUT

you got the 717/720cc motor...if sat for awhile, then the rv seals leaked oil into the journal/combustion area...so, need to clear out oil, then it'll work, unless the rv seals are bad enough, that it continues to fill once its been purged, but i doubt it, since you said, you got it running...little more running will clear it out, along with taking the carb off, and going through it.

Last year when we took it out, it took forever to get it running . The only way we could keep it running was to run it wide open throttle, after the 2nd tank we ran through it, I couldn't get it to start and stay running, I pulled the plugs through out the entire time and I kept noticing that the plugs were soaked in oil. Would this information still lead you to believe that I needed I need to pull the carb? Is there a way to check the oil injector and/or block it off and use pre-mixed fuel?

either the oil injection pump isnt correctly adjusted and/or yuor seals are leaking, with that amount of oil your say'n...

remove the airbox, makes it much easier, then use a mirror. The pump is located below the carb. WIpe it up, so you can see the "marking lines" on each part...the arm and the nipple that has a "line" vertically...while using mirror and marks align, pull throttle and watch for her to move, if aligned, and moves correctly, then with the oil your say'n, gots to be the seals.

now that you know what model you have, download the free on-line service manual. this will answer so many questions you may have, along with the help and advice you'll receive here
i'm a bad boy when it comes to winterization, but stuck a battery in my trusty 'ole 95 SPI tonight and she fired right up. i usually only add fuel stabilizer and anti-freeze to it and she sits all winter. even though this is my only currently running ski, in appreciation for her starting without a hitch, i'm gonna pull her guts out, repair some oil leaks, throughly clean her hull interior and recover the seat. aaaahhhhh! the sound of that 2-cycle firing up tonight and the smell of oil ............. almost got me teary-eyed!

where do i find a new OEM RVC for a 587?

might not be nothing wrong with it..wipe the tears from your eyes, and have anutha look....

if something wrong with it, either ebay or send it to SBT for refurb/replacement...

okay. i get it. re-assemble the RVC, use the 45degree feeler guage and get a reading on RV clearance. now, considering this thing is DEEPLY grooved, have it shaved down to smoothe, re-install, and check clearance again. if beyond spec, try and find another RVC............

grooves, knotches are ok, gives more room for oil to pocket in, its when the grooves extend from one port to the other...then its time for new/recond one.

extend from one port to the other? (scratches head) dude, we're talkin' this thing is DEEPLY GROOVED ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE, THICKNESS, WHAT HAVE YOU, meaning it looks like the worst brake rotor i've seen in a while. keep in mind though, this was a running ski that appeared to be ok on land then wouldn't accellerate in the water and eventually quit running and would backfire under starting. unknown at the time, oil pump line to pto side was broken/leaking/air-intaking? might have been the problem all along....
