hello.... we just got our FIRST jet boat...woo hoo... but we cant seem to figure out EXACTLY WHAT model it is when looking for parts/accessories like a bimini top, the cup holders, mat set, and stuff... it is an otherwise mint little jet boat with a single rotax.. gettin off track... the title says bombardier, and the boat has that word decalled all around it, as well as a SPORTSTER decal too!! so we are confused... its 14.5 feet in length, one single, mint, rotax, only guage is for fuel, seats 4. any help in isolating what model it truly is will surely help us to make this little thing a real beauty. it aint much, but its ours and we got it for 1700! it runs like a dream. the engine looks brand new; i gotta put some pics of that alone up here somewhere, but it must not have been in salt water as there is absolutly no corrosion anywhere on/in the boat or trailor. thanks for the help. i know we will probably want a bigger one some time down the road, but our little 2005 honda civic wouldnt be able to tow anything larger! exactly how DO you know what model it is without the manual; it didnt come with one :(

a start would be to get the last 2 digits from the HIN on the title which would tell you the model year. The Sportster model was made from '95 - 2006

with the help of the FREE manual/guides over at BRP--operation guides.... it is indeed a sportster... now.. gonna go find stuff to make it nice and happy.... it is a cute little boat... thanks for the reply... it is a 97 fo sure

as far as engines go, in 97 it could be a 717 or a 787. if it has black and red caps on the motor, and the head of the motor is at a 45 degree angle its a 787. if it just stands "straight up" its a 717.

Guitar,

North Lakeland here too. We are by Best Buy, Beef's, Carpenters Church, etc..... Where do you plan to go boating? We were out on Lake Gibson with our PWC's on Christmas. We like the Chain of Lakes in Winter Haven for our Challenger. I know some about the boats and PWC's so if you want, I will take a look at it for you sometime.

Happy New Year.

i guess 'stands straight up' means or refers to the plugs.... they are straight up... no biggie... ok... now we are on mission to find... i knew it was missing something.... the REAR storage deck/lid/assy or whatever i have seen in manual it was supposed to have which also would have held the stern light..which we dont have either... cup holders and the REAR seat assy... the part your butt sits on.... otherwise all else is great! i know we are new to this... and i have read a good deal.... any clues or hints on what oil to use other than the listed $$ one, as well as maintenance tips would be great. we live in north lakeland, fl, where there are many many nice sized lakes to run around in; BUT, ya wouldnt want to tube in them as there are big ass gators and sneaky snakes in most every and any, lake, pond, etc., therefore; if we wanna do the tube stuff... it will have to be in the nice gulf shores we are near... that, i know, will require a more thorough cleaning, lubing, etc., but after reading the manual, i figure there has to be someone here who has the procedure down with lubricants and cleaning/protecting agents other than those costly ass ones the manufacturer recommends. that would be oh so great to have as we are new to this and want to get some great use from it. again, thanks!!

alright! sounds great!! we are in the copper ridge subdivisions, off of 98n, banana road to the end, into copper ridge subs, we are in copper ridge terrace... more info when ya wanna come by... if there is a way to do a pm here, shoot me one and i will give u phone no. thanks so much. we only spent 1700 which was all we had, but we saved a few more for a top, seat assy, and a few odds and ends... but wanna make it look good as it was new and make it last. thanks again.. pm me! nice to meet you :) wife is excited too! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!! WOOO HOOOOOOOO

Happy New Year.[/QUOTE]

gettn a bit in dumps about the prices on a few of the 'little' things we wanted to fix, like the missing rear storage/engine cover... and the rear seat assy... the bottom part which, of course, is outrageous.... seems we were, in a way, no better off with going with our other choice which would have been a 96 sea ray f16... was better than this in some cosmetic ways, but worse in others.... i guess you get what you get when you dont have much to lay out.... we can and will make a go of it as it is an otherwise nifty boat... just wish there were people out there who had or made aftermarket, non oem, replacement parts for these.... seems you would make a mint at charging even half off the oem part/piece price.... are there any? like for seats?

Well since this is your first boat, you just found out that BOAT is an acronym for Bust Out Another Thousand. There is nothing cheap about owning water toys.

Don't get down in the dumps yet..... There may be some places where you can get used parts that would be more reasonable. I will give you the email address of a guy in Bradenton that I have gotten some used parts from. The last time I was at his place I think he had a Sportster he was parting out.

WOW..THAT WOULD BE GREAT!! thanks!! look forward to getting the info. you guys here have been so cool to us newbies! we are so excited and feel great.... a bit nervous, but thats to be expected. what we think is MOST important is that mechanically, so far, it is pretty much awesome and looks great albeit the seat bottom, a bit of fade on the steering wheel... gonna give it a thorough looking today
