hello everyone my name is Josh, i just purchased a 2005 Seadoo 3D, and its currently not running. (purchased from my Boss) it was his personal jetski and he lost the key. I got it home and bought a new battery and put new plugs i get the title tomorrow called local dealer(where it was purchased buy him) and said i need the title in my name and the watercraft and id so they can program a key for it so ima get that done like i said im new to all of this NEVER owed a jetski before he never used it no time it just sat for about 2 yrs. I cleaned it all up and i was wondering its a 2 stroke does it have crankcase oil or any fluids i need to change??? i want to drain the oil and old gas oil seems pretty easy but gas not sure about like i said i have no knowledge of a jetski but cars and stuff pretty good if any1 can help me it would be greatly appreciated

also he said he had it at the dealership to have the computer replaced which he gave me the old one

also where do i hook the water hose to, to run it on land and about how long is safe to run it? i was also reading something about a beep code or something that 2 beeps means everything is good and the ski is ready to start is this correct?

and what octane fuel should i run? and should i run non ethonol fuel?? and for the oil what would be the proper oil to run thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

No crankcase oil in a 2-stroke. Find out what 2-stroke injector oil is being used, if it's API-TC rated full synthetic just continue using what the previous owner used, if not post back. It's best to use non ethanol fuel if you can get it, but honestly 87 octane pump gas will work just fine. There should be a fitting on the ride shoe to connect a garden hose, do not run the ski on a hose for more than 2 minutes, also when connecting to a hose start the ski, turn on the hose, turn off the hose stop the motor.

I would suggest downloading an Owners manual and a service manual, you can download one from this site if you join as a premium member, or just google for one.

cool thank you sir i will ask him tomorrow what oil he ran and on the back theres a pipe with threads inside and another port with a cap i believe i will post pics also i was just checking the parts prices man ohh man that computer he replaced was 861.00 he told me it was like 900.00 to have a computer put in it these things are pretty expensive but i will keep everyone updated on how things go thanks again everyone

ok so i took the ski and had the key programmed i also bought the plugs and the inline oil filter i charged the battery that came with the ski but i dont think its any good held a charge for them to program the key but when i got home seems like its having a hard time turning over i get 2 beeps i still have to get fuel and put fresh oil which i bought the seadoo full synthetic oil my question is do these starters turn over similar to a car truck?? the battery has been sitting almost 2 yrs thanks everyone

2 years is not that long for a battery but if it as been sitting discharged for that two years, chances are the cells have collapsed. I would recommend replacing the battery. Last thing you want is to be out on the water and it fail on you then. Makes for a long paddle home :)

yeah im definitely getting a new battery just shopping around for best price and warranty i put the key in and it turned over slow like 2 raantt ranntt sounds super dead but then i hit the button again and it started up kinda shocked i put some fuel and a new inline oil filter gaped the new plugs and it started and i gave it throttle for about 3 or 4 sec and i shut it down smoked quite abit. im just really excited due to hearing it run thanks all for the help and info hope to be on the water next weekend still gotta get life jackets and some other small things

Yes due to sitting its prob not going to run great right away, and lots of smoke usually means its been fogged which is good.

Fire it up and let it run low rpm for 15-20 secs then give it a couple good blasts to suck all the oil out of the cases. Dont run longer than 30-45seconds without hooking to the hose.

Then make sure to test it before you plan your big first weekend with it. Put it in the water on the trailer, start it up and let it run in the water while you check for leaks. Give it a couple blasts on the trailer to make sure it will rev all the way then take it off the trailer and rip it!

Welcome to the best Seadoo site in the world! If I can be of any help just let me know.
