Hi Everyone! I would like to say that I am the proud owner of a 1996 GTX but I have to say that since I have had it whihc has been less than a month let me tell you it has been some fun but a whole lot of hell as well.
Let me share the drama..............................................
We had been looking for a 3 seater for some time. We were heading up to the cottage on a Friday morning and had found a machine which was of interest so we stopped in to check it our on our way up. The lady selling the machine menioned it hadn't been running 100% so she had it at a local marina where we picked it up from and it was just being serviced. Since it was being serviced we figured how cn we go wrong so we paid the lady hooked it up and drove away. Get to the lake and wouldn't know the thing wouldn't run and we could only idle from pt A to B boy was I pissed!
Next morning bright and early get out and start putzing arounbg with it. move the fuel selector to RES versus standard and the thing starts to move and move it did! Sun was shining I was starting to fell pretty good until the BOG! Anyhow even with the bog the kids got to tube and the wife got to ski so we were still ok even with the BOG.
Monday morning comes around and I suggest one last tube ride before we get going home and guess what. Tow rope sucked into the drive shaft! What an idiot I felt like. Gets better - couldn't cut it out under water so we flip it over get the rope out mahine is 3/4's full of water and we thought it was going sink! So my two older boys pull from the front and my wife and I push from the back just enough so we can get it tilted out of the water and onto the dock to drain. WOW - these are preety heavy when full of water. We get the water out and a tow to the launch to pull the dreadful thng out of the water. Drop it back off at the Marina where we picked it up. Had it there for 2 weeks and $1000 bucks later (I bent the drive shaft with the rope!), picked it up with some new parts in it got it to the water and hey now I have a new BOG!
Let me just say that when these things run they are AWESOME! I visited the forum a few times to guide the dumb dumb I had left the machine with and really apprecite the amount of info available.
With all that I have learned in recent weeks I imagine in no time I will be able to help others out in no time at all!
