My lovely darling 3 year old daughter lost my key to ski a while ago. I was able to get jold of another one and was wandering if there is anyway at all I can start the ski with the new key without having to take it into a dealership to have it programmed as I live out on property out in the middle iof no where, if I cant start it this way what about if i just get a new computer or something. I am able to purchase parts and stuff but am unable to drive the ski to town just due to lack of time. Thankyou.

"P" codes 0513 post...

The P code your asking about is for an incorrect lanyard key. You don't state what type or year ski you've got, but that's what the "P" code is, no matter the year.
You cannot take a lanyard key from any other machine to start yours. That lanyard is a DESS (digital electronic security system) key with a ROM chip embedded in it for security reasons. Your going to have to take your ski to a Sea-Doo authorized repair shop and buy a new key and have it programmed. While your at it, may be worth you getting a couple extra lanyards to have programmed. You can program up to 6.
You can purchase the lanyard through the internet for about $20 American dollars.......but you still have to take it to a shop to get it programmed. There is no way around the security systems to these watercraft that I know of because the ignition system is combined with the MPEM (multi purpose electronic module).
Hope this points you in the right direction. Welcome to the forum. Have any more problems, give us a shout. There is always someone here to help!...

O.K., now, I know what type ski you have. There is only one other way you can do this. You can take the mpem out (remove the battery terminals first) and go to a Sea-Doo shop and if they have another ski in the shop that uses the same mpem, they can hook yours up and program your mpem and lanyard caps with one there. You'll have to make arrangements before you go though.........but there is no way to get around the Lanyard DESS system.

To add to seadoosnipe's post, you might have to prove you own the seadoo in question. Bring your registration or some other proof of ownership with you. I'd ask the dealer what he needs to be sure you have what is needed to get it programed.
