The specs on the web show the same basic machine.
All the talk here is about 2 mph difference
I am just ready to buy 2 machines, have a deposit on the 155s and the more i read reviews, $1100 per machine difference

Am i missing something, is it only the 2 mph?

I think I would get the 155 engine as it is a VERY proven engine. Plus, it will not always be working near its max I get pretty decent performance where the 130 will be for he same performance level.

Thanks Coastie... so it is in fact a different engine than the SE130 and in my post i should have said vs GTI SE155

Im not sure there is anything physically different then the 130. Pull up 2 parts breakdowns side by side. Ive done it before and couldnt find any different parts, mechanically.

They are basically the same engine just different tuning. Personally I would get the 155s, decent performance, good gas mileage and very reliable. The 155s will probably have better resale if you decide to trade up in a few years.

Fuel economy of my 155 is at least twice as good as my 255. I tend to play hard on my 255. Can't help it. ;-)

I got a 130 because it was on sale for about $3000 less then the 155. Ive ridden with the identical boat but a 155 and I couldn't tell a difference in performance or fuel economy. I'm happy with my decision, but I also bought my boat for about $2000 under msrp.

The difference between the 2 motors is the cam profile and tuning last I checked. Mechanically they are identical. I would also recommend the 155 over the 130. It does better in places where the 130 tends to struggle such as pulling at tube or wakeboarder. My advice is to get the most powerful machine you can afford only because if you get one that isn't powerful enough it's going to be expensive to add power and speed on the water.

Could not agree more. Adding power/speed/performance gets expensive fast. Not uncommon to cost 500 to 1000 dollars per 1 to 3 MPH...

If you can afford get the gtx 155 has the S3 hull. You won't regret it and it a lot easier on the arms and legs.
