I am new here, just joined, looked like a great helpful group. I bought this 2004 gtx a couple of years ago and it sat unused last summer. This summer I bought a new battery, emptied all the old gas out, it wouldn't start so I changed the spark plugs. It started right up.
I'm by far not a mechanic, especially watercraft. I finally got to take it out today and it started right up, but after 1 minute it beeped and check engine light came on, I went around slow, it ran perfect, sounded perfect. I brought it back to shore and checked to see if anything looked wrong... I decided to go again, I went across the lake no problems but the red light and check engine was still on, every so often it beeped. I rode it like normal, no hesitation. I hit set 5 times and got end, no code. It seems electrical but I don't have a clue and don't want to damage something. I have read a lot of the check engine light post on here and did learn a few things. Anyone know what it could be? What should I look for?

Yes, these early model 4-techs suffered from water intrusion in the information center. I have experienced what you have ... no codes, and erroneous warning lights and beeps while the ski runs without a problem.

I replaced my information center and the problem disappeared. Then I pulled the old one apart; the corrosion was so bad that on one of the electrical connections was only held on the circuit board by a single strand of wire.

Since then, I've had to replace the information center on the sister ski. The bad part is the cost ... $600+ to replace them. Rebuilding them is a challenge with the biggest problem ... evacuating all the air and sealing them up.
