GTX engine temp reads low while warmed up

I have confirmed my head temperature to be 200+ degF while the gauge reads 78F (just above ambient). Is this what the ECU sees? Is it thinking that this is the actual engine temp? I know there is an exhaust temp sensor and an engine temp sensor by the coolant bleed nippe. I'm guessing it's the latter... any input on this?

Is that gauge for reading the lake water temperature?

I know the later GTi's are lake water

The "gauge" reads...78*?...is this L or E?

78 - E Temp. At first, I thought maybe it was reporting in celcius, but there is a clear "F" beside the number. Neither L or E report anything close to what the engine temps REALLY are. E is not accurate with exhaust temp either. L Temp seems spot on with ambient temperature, be it air or water.

As best as I've been able to understand...

E temp reading is the temp inside the hull.

L temp reading is the surface temp of the ride plate...or what ever kind of water the ski is floating in.

Come summer time....the E temp, when I put in, will typically be low 70's in the a.m. and will read in the mid 90's come afternoon. I've seen it as high as 135 after the ski's been sitting for a while. L temp early in the year will be in the 60's but will climb to the 70's and low 80's come summer time.

Most folks who want to beat heat fade will install a blower fan to help keep inner hull temps down. Got to be careful when doing so if you're running a front air system. The sc draws more air than most any blower can provide...and if you have a fan between the air intake and the inlet to the hull...your performance will suffer.

E temp is exterior temperature the sensor is under the front hood by the gauges.

L temp is the water temperature the sensor is part of the speed sensor assembly at the rear of the hull.

I remember them as E for Environment and L for lake.

Aaaaaaahhhhh, well that makes more sense then :hurray: glad it's not broken, though it is probably a bit off. Engine temps would be good to know. Might make it happen, I have a new analog temp gauge I can use.
