We have a 97 GTX and every year we need to put a new battery in. We are getting the one specified for the ski. A neighbor was having the same problem and enlarged the battery box for larger one and that solved the problem.

Is this a known problem and if so, what is the best solution. I really don't want to enlarge the box.

Thanks

IMO, absolutely not necessary, just buy a good battery. a Sealed AGM battery, do NOT go to wal mart !!!!

the last one i bought was from batteries plus, i believe it was the Xtreme 16L for like $105, i've had it last two years and I ride 45 times a year minimum then put it on a ski that I sold and got a new one.

there is absolutely no need to enlarge the box.

with proper tendering (important) and a good battery, it should last 3 yrs.

We have a 96 GTX and do not have a problem like yours with the battery. I don't know what kind of batteries you are buying but it will pay you to buy a top of the line battery. The ones we purchase are in the range of 85 to 100.00. In addition during times of it sitting we keep a Battery Tender jr. on it.

i noticed that autozone now carries the etx 16l AGM batteries - 81.99 here in houston

ya, and advanced was doing them with a 20% online coupon as well, order online, pickup at store, save 20%.

bottom line, buying $50 batteries will cost you more in time, hassle and moneyt than one good sealed agm with a warranty, preferrably local warranty so you can just drop it off and replace.

a tender is a great investment, if your battery sits for long periods and drains completely they don't always come back to life, so $25 at BP or heck under $10 at Harbor Freight and you can have a tender, and if your up in NY where it sits in the cold, pull battery, keep it in a basement, and charge it periodically.

batteries are like penisis... they need a good crank now and then to keep them healthy
