Hey Guys

this one has totally slipped over my head with time i should have remembered this from previous models but this being my first model without a fill hole for the 30mls of balance shaft oil

do i need it?

I add them to all the cases I have that don't. I do them in a milling machine. Only 95 and 96 cases should have no cap. You fill it just before you put the top end on thru a small hole. If your engine is assembled I would not drill and tap for it.

Thanks for the reply Racer, i took her a part again than silicone her back up than busted a bolt thru the crankcase i feel like absolute shit  it was the pressure from to much silicone building up inside the thread and it popped a hole in the crankcase trying to upload pictures but my phones not working

In all my time rebuilding all kinds of marine engines i have never had this happen, there had to be a first tho...

I'm going to strip it and have it welded than maybe depending on how high up the weld puddle travels i may have to drill the bottom and re-tap

Back the screw out, clean it up really good and toss some JB weld or epoxy on it. It's broken to the outside, I have seen intake ports ported so big that they break into the same threaded hole on the inside. They fill it with jb weld or epoxy and then smooth it out. And that is internally.

We have JB-Weld over here so that is a option thanks for that idea  what about those low temp melting aluminium brazing rods the ones that use propane do u think that could work?
