GTI SE 130 drive shaft

My sea doo was running fine. I let off the gas and when I took off again the engine was turning alot of rpm's and struggling to get going. I pulled it from the water and removed some rubber that was wrapped around the drive shaft. It looks like this was supposed to be over the drive shaft. If so, can I run without it or not? Can this cause other problems? Thanks.

Remove it all and you will be fine. Just spray the shaft down with Fluid Film after the ride to protect it..
