I have a 97 gti had new motor installed idles great and runs great. Once you go to wot it will lose spark and die. Then will crank right back up. What could be the problem and help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance. New to the whole forum thing.
I am sure it acts just like you hit the kill switch but more than likely its a carb, fuel line or petcock issue and it is running out of fuel, this is a dead on symptom of clogged fuel filters inside the carbs or a clogged petcock.
I took the air breather or however it's considered off and as soon as it starts to die I sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb to see if I could get it to pick back up and it does nothing. I'll pull the carb off and check it out. I have changed the tempo lines out when we put motor new motor in. Thanks guys for all the input
If there were Tempo fuel lines on it, you REALLY need to go through the carb and clean/rebuild it. A dirty carb will destroy the top end of that new motor in short order.
