GSX sticky throttle

I seem to have a rather sticky throttle. Noticed it last time I was out on the water so decided to change the cable as I'm not sure how long it's been on.

Fitted the cable and yes it need some adjustments but while adjusting it the throttle seems to want to stay open (engine not running) like its not springing back. Unbolted carb and gave everything a good spray of WD. Will return to it tomorrow.

Anything else I can do?

Typically this is caused by corrosion on the carb body at the throttle butterfly shaft. Salt water ski?

Yep a salt water ski. I do flush it with fresh water but usually the next day as we tend to go out late evening.

Anything I can do to prevent/prolong the problem

Lube everything after each use and rinse thoroughly

Just a pain trying as you can't get access to the bottom of the carb.

Any other spray I can use other than WD40?

I personally use the same fogging oil as I use for storage. It's just a light oil.

I use white lithium grease in the spray can. Coats and protects really well

Well we managed to sort out the sticky throttle. Turned out to be the butterfly shaft on one of the carbs.

We did a field repair in to car park. But now I seem to have lost top end speed? Any ideas?

Raves sticking ?

Could do with a bit more information if you could?

If your raves need cleaned and are sticking you won’t have any top end speed. Also check if they have slots in them. If not I would upgrade to the slotted ones.

Just had a look at the service manual looks easy enough to clean.

Do I just need to clean the guillotine slider or strip the whole thing down?

Well that wasn't to painful gonna fit them tomorrow and hopefully test it out on the weekend
