Hi i have a 1996gsx that will not turn over when i push the start button the solinoide just buzzes and when i bridge the solinoide the starter just spins but no ingadge i have taken the starter of and put it across a batery and it throws out i have also cleaned both terminals to the starter and my batt is 12.30 volts

can any one help me please whats left to do

many thanks tom

whats the read'n on the other post, of the relay. Inspect the cable from relay to starter, also, check the battery too. It'll say, 12.30, but under load, goes to 10/11 volts, which aint good.

starter trouble

you will need to work your way through each piece of the system to find the problem. just because you jumped the starter to the battery and it ran doesnt mean it's not at fault.
burnt windings and/or worn out burshes can let a starter spin over but under load of turning over the engine, fail.
bad ( corroded ) connection are a common failure. easy fix.
bad ground to the solenoid is another common thing.
on my 96 gsx the ground for the solenoid attaches to the ignition coil armature. when i started working on it, the electrical box had 3" of water in it and that ground junction was corroded.
attach a voltmeter to the battery posts and read the voltage, then crank the starter and read the volts again during the crank. small drop is normal / large drop bad.
good luck
