GSX-L 97.5 White Engine, stay away or..

This thing looks like a potential basket case. Better be darn cheap. Aftermarket starter, missing air box. Base gasket has been replaced. Manifold to pipe joint has been leaking, hence all the corrosion on the case. Aftermarket primer. Hex head bolt installed on carb mounting. Redneck premix conversion. Left pump in place, hopefully removed drive. The one line near the front of the engine is feeding the oil pump, or was feeding it. The other line is coming from the rotary valve shaft and should be at least looped with another line on the other side of the engine. If the rotary valve shaft gear has not been getting lube it is likely toast as it is brass.

I took your advice and passed on that one. Without the feedback from here I would most likely have a basket with problems in my garage..
Now I upped the budget and looking at a 2002/2003 GTI/GTX with RFI... to bad you cant get the hours out of them unless going to the dealer though.
 
If it has an LCD you can read the hours...just toggle the mode button. I forget if the GTI has one...but the GTX definitely does.
