Hi Forum,

I am a newbie with Sea.Doo but already totally addicted ;-)
4 months ago i bought a 2001 GTX-Di in color Yellow/gold white. I was reading the manual and checking every part of the Doo but i can't get my head wrapped around what motor i should have. According to the manual it should have a 947-di engine. When i look at the white barcode label on the engine it says type 787. I don't see anything about a 787-di in this type of Doo with this buildyear etcetera.

VIN/HUN number: ZZN20141A101
Engine serial: M5267553

Is there anyone that can share some light on this? I really would like to know what type off Doo i have now with what type of engine.

Thanks in advance.

the 787 was a RFI motor, not DI. You have 110 HP, and slightly more reliability than the DI models.
A photo of the engine will confirm... you should post that...

You also appear to be missing the hood strut that holds the front hood up.

Thank you. I will make a photo and post it when i get home. Also thanks for mentioning the hood strut. I was already wondering what needed to be mounted in that metal bracket.

Yes, you have a 2001 GTX RFI with the 787 engine. The sticker below the seat in the side even says Rotax Fuel Injection (RFI).

The 951 DI will say Direct Fuel Injection. Or (DI).

Thank you. Loce the clarity..Now back to the dealer who has sold me the seadoo as a 951 DI with 130HP. The difference is not a big issue for me but it's not what i've bought.

Actually it is a big issue if they misrepresented it.

The 951 is much stronger as far as power but less reliable in general.

I will contact the dealer anyway and see what their story and solution for this is. The only thing is that this scooter runs great and when i for example get another used one it is again a guess. If you want i will keep u updated in this thread.

You shouldn’t charge the battery on a SEADOO with a
YAMAHA charger! It gonna f**k stuff up.... lol [emoji23]

It's all sorted with the dealer they will perform and pay for the top-end rebuild when it is the time for that. Thanks for all the help.
