I have looked at a lot of threads about the grounding posts but can't find an answer i was looking for. It's a curiousity question. Can damage occur to the electrical system or is it a safety issue with using the grounding posts. If they are not used when and how can damage happen.
Thank you in advance

I have never heard of it happening, but supposedly CAN hurt your engine.

But there is probably a safety issue as well. Boats often hold gas fumes in the engine bay, and stray sparks can be dangerous when mixed with gas fumes.

The Seadoo electrical system delivers a very high voltage. Just try to buy a Seadoo coil and see how expensive they are. A lot of electronics are buried in the epoxy surrounding the coil. What you are trying to avoid by using the grounding post is for the spark energy to find another path to ground since it does not have an easy one thru the grounding post. Once this path is created ( a distributor cap crack on a typical car is an example) the likely hood of the spark energy trying to jump the spark plug gap is reduced and you can end up with a miss.

Can't find the grounding posts

Where should the grounding posts be on a 2000 LRV. I can't see them anywhere. but I don't know where they should be and can't tell from the pics in the owners manual?

look at the rear ebox, laying sideways. Where the red cables are coming from. You'll see, 2-silver protruding tabs.

Thanks guys for your responses.I understand what you mean about the spark trying to 'find another way out' and how it may create damage.Fumes in the bilge is always a dangerous mix.I was just curious to know. Thanks again
