So last night i get a call from a guy that i sort of know and he knows that i deal alot with watercraft....he says that if im interested in it he has a 1995 seadoo xp on a single place shorelander trailer that he is willing to let go real cheap if i was interested... He lived about 45 minutes from me so i decided to take a drive out there to have a look... when i got ther we pulled it out and i started to diagbnose the problem it was having...turned out the rod bearing locked up so the crank will not rotate...other than that this thing was MINT...we started dealing and i ended up pulling it home for 250 bucks!!! Not bad for this as you can see in the pics huh!!!! I am in need of an engine for it so if anyone has a good one ill buy it from you.... I BELIEVE IT is the 717 engine as the engine is white and the pipe is PURPLE.....if im wrong just let me know.
cant wait fpor your input guys

Hi Brock,

As far as reliability and performance, I've always thought that the 95XP was as close the the perfect ski as seadoo ever made. It's got the X4 hull, the 717 in my opinion the best motor SeaDoo ever used, no carbon seal, no MPEM just a good reliable ski. You got it for less than the value of the trailer.

Tell you what I'll give you $300.00 you start driving south I'll drive north and we'll meet half way.

I just bought a 95 myself, I was looking for one like you got but I got this one instead.

Lou

sounds good lou !!!!!! Ill just strap the seat to the trailer and that would be fair for 300 right ?LOL ill keep the rest......

I guess that would be O.K., I paid $1600.00 for mine but it's got a SBT premium engine with 11 hrs. and a year left on the warranty. SeaDoo only made 500 95XP's with the 800 so it's kinda rare.

yeah you dont find them that clean very often... ifrom what im getting here its a 720 engine correct??? Im nwew to that engine i mostly deal with 787 anybody have input on the engine size

Nice find. Even if you just pay for an SBT engine... you will be under market price for that ski.

And I will second Lou's comment about the 720 being the best engine Rotax made. It makes good power, and it's simple. The RAVE's just add a failure and maintenance point.

not to turn this into a parts thread but if anyone has an engine ill gladly take it off ur hands or even if you have a crank thats really all i need

also gotta ask.....why does SBT show the 717 engine being silver ????? mine is white

hey does anyone know(since i havent dug in yet) is there a way to remove the rod from the crank on the 720 engine to replace the wrist pin or is that not possible

Hey Doc why do you suppose the rod bearing locked up to begin with? Brock I would imagine the only way to get to that wrist pin is to open the block.

RE PAINT.
pm 99spxxx or minnetonka if you want a drop in ready engine.
Or send that one out to ses / fullbore or sbt swap.

99 spxxx has one but he says the rotor seals leak oil into the crank really fast....how hard is it to replace the rotor seals

As hard as rebuilding the one(crank) you have now :)
or buy one w/o no core replacement for parker yamaha iirc

I'm a little jealous about this one. The "clean" 95 XP I bought 12 years ago was no where near that clean. The motor in that thing is likely fresher in many ways that what you will see on the used market. I agree with OCOD that you should repair yours correctly.

Brock,

I'm not gonna tell you what to do, however if it was me I would buy a shortblock from SBT, put a "new" engine in, it will last forever, SeaDoo really got it right with the ski you got. If you like the 787's your gonna love the 717.

That is definetly my plan of action here with this ski... its in too good of shape to just drop a junk engine in it however if you still wanna trade since you like mine so much im game for a trade ill even throw in a hundred bucks hows that sound LOL

It would be a shame and the xp gods will be unhappy.
Rebuild it right and it will last for another 17 years.

HAHA if i do that i think i just keep it....good negotiating skills though....tell you what ill do it if you pay for half the engine
