good times... being sarcastic

I bet the RAVE dropped a little (may have come unscrewed) then that stopped the piston, and that's why the hole was knocked in the crown from the back side. (piston stopped... rod didn't)

Then... in turn... the RAVE broke.

I think it would have happened regardless of being shaved. Like I said... it either unthreaded, or the bellows threads were damaged.

Is this the low RPM ski?

Since you made mention that STB needs a good set of RAVE's... give them a call today, and ask what's the up-charge since yours is destroyed. (I'll email you tonight)

You are right doc, both the exhaust valves threads are melted again. They are new not long ago. Not sure why again they are melted, but at this point doesn't matter.

No this my ski, the 99. My bothers is running great.

I've been emailing them, trying to get a firm answer with regards to the valve and the exhaust valves. I have an old part broken valve I can put in, along with 2 new exhaust valves. But i'm sure they throw the whole thing out.

Thanks doc!

I had no issues with SBT. Just take of all the stuff and swap it over onto the new engine. It's really just a plug and play kinda thing. Make sure you take pictures and mark stator and that kinda stuff. I also needed a degree wheel for timming which I forgot about and had to wait for that to get shipped out. I would read the whole process in the manual while waiting for the engine to arrive. It will get the sequence and tools required and run through your head, so your ready to go when it shows up at the door. I think they give you 3 weeks to ship the core back.

Good to hear!

If all goes well i'm having someone else do it.

doc they got back to me.... I asked as long as the pieces are there doesn't matter the shape of them, then no extra charge. So I have to take the raves apart again, and put back in my broken pieces. Good thing since my exhaust valves are oem, and nice to have a back up.

They probably just want the block and crank. They get allot of parts back and some good to use and some not. Well worth it IMO. By the way, thier shop will answer any questions you have. Just make sure you are talking to mechanics.
